Production Tiers

Sewing America is committed to helping new and small business owners develop a clothing line or a single garment that meets their expectations. Clients come to us in many different stages of product development. Therefore, we have outlined 4 tiers of service to help you better understand the full process. For success, each tier relies on the previous one.

For exact prices please refer to the Price Sheet.  All other services will be billed hourly based on the prices below.

Tier 1: Design and Product Development
$65/ Hr.

This step is designed for clients that are creating a clothing line or a single garment from scratch. To begin the process, you will need:

  • A drawing, picture, or idea of your design(s)
  • A swatch or description of the fabric content/color
  • Create a detailed sketch of the garment (s).
  • Find fabric for samples
  • Develop a size specification sheet
  • Discuss any screen printing or embellishments applied to the style(s).
  • Estimate timetable for new pattern development (see Tier 2 )
  • Discuss scope and timelines for project
   
Tier 2: Pattern and Prototype Development
$55/ Hr.

Once the stylistic details are ironed out, the next steps are: (1) design a pattern, (2) create a prototype of each style. The prototype serves as a visual of the final product and may be modified until final approval by the client is granted.

To begin, the client must submit a sketch, spec sheet, and all materials needed to create the sample(s) or prototypes. If you already have your own patterns, Sewing America will need to make one sample to assure the pattern is correct.

Upon completion of the prototype, a production price estimate* will be provided along with a checklist of items needed for the final product.

   
Tier 3: Production Preparation
$45/ Hr.

In this step, all loose ends are tied and final preparations for production are made. Patterns are finalized and graded. Production quantities are determined, and all fabric and other materials are ordered and delivered by the client to Sewing America.

One production sample per size will be created at Sewing America to determine final production price. All garments to be manufactured at Sewing America, with very few exceptions, must be preceded by samples created at Sewing America. This is because valuable information that affects quality and pricing is obtained from this process and allows for final production quotes* to be provided.

Also in this step, an action plan is created for the project specifying important deadlines.

   
Tier 4: Production
Per Piece Price based on Garment

All other steps described above must be completed prior to moving into this Tier. Production will begin when all necessary fabric** and materials have arrived at Sewing America and a 50% deposit has been paid. The remaining balance is due upon completion of the project and must be paid before releasing the order to the client.

** All fabric to be used per style MUST be the same width. Otherwise, additional marker and cut fees will apply. Fabric must also be on rolls, not bolts.
